# Inner Space

## Project Overview

Inner Space is a series of VR biology games and tools that visualizes the insulin secretion pathway for science education and research. The project is a joint research effort between the USC World Building Media Lab and the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Biosciences.

## Role

### Technical Producer
* Managed projects through life cycle: Definition, design, production, testing, and launch.
* Implemented OKR's, AGILE sprint planning, dependency graphs, and communication plans.
* Ran 100+ XR demos, including pitches at AWE, VIZBI, G4C, USC, Impact Guild, and Siggraph.
* Mitigate scope creep by negotiating financial runway, timelines, and deliverables.
* Nurtured a collaborative culture between artists, scientists, and engineers.
* Oversaw branding, marketing, and communication materials for project exhibitions.

### VR Developer
* Developed mixed reality prototypes that visualize the Insulin Secretion Pathway. This includes asset creation, rigging, animation, shaders, lighting, post-processing, game mechanics, and systems engineering.
* Created tools in Blender (Python) and Unity (C#) to simulate the formation and movements of Insulin Crystals and Cell Membrane to the atomic scale.
* Solved optimization hurdles by migrating manual animation workflow into GPU-instanced procedural animations to simulate the movement of over a hundred thousand proteins in real time.

## Dev Tools

Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya, Rhino, ChimeraX, Houdini, FMOD

## Videos

* Insulin Release Cinematic Video

* VR Playthrough: The Whole Cell

* VR Playthrough: The Crystal Mini Game

* VR Playthrough: The Nexus Hub
